  1. League Format

    1. The season will be divided into two sections: Regular Season and Postseason.

      1. 1.1.1.Payment: All teams must have their total team fee paid 2 weeks before season start date.

      2. 1.1.2.The fee amount is $135-168.75/player (also known as the player fee). This is depended on the team roster size. There are no hidden team fees.

      3. 1.1.3.

        1. 1.1.3.1.Players will have to register for their team by using our league website.

        2. 1.1.3.2.Cash App, PayPal, credit/debit are appropriate forms of payment. Cash will not be accepted for team or player fees.

        3. 1.1.3.3.Player fees can be prorated under special circumstances. Please reference ROSTERS AND PLAYERS 4.1.1.1

        4. 1.1.3.4.No partial payments will be considered without direct communication with the League Commissioner. This does not guarantee an extension.


      1. 1.1.4.Regular Season: Games are played every Sunday between 4PM - 9PM.

        1. 1.1.4.1.This will vary depending on the amount of teams in the league. 

      2. 1.1.5.Playoffs: Playoffs will begin the following week of the regular season. The top teams from each conference will make the playoffs.

        1. 1.1.5.1.The amount of teams to make the playoffs depend on the amount of teams in the league. Ex: 14 team league = top 4 teams from each conference.

      3. 1.1.6.The first (2) rounds of the playoffs will be played in one day. The championship game will  be played the following week. Subject to change

        1. 1.1.6.1.The playoffs can extend if we have a larger league.

        2. 1.1.6.2.The following can help or hurt playoff berths and seeding

          1. 1.1.6.2.1.Head-to-Head - match-up who holds the tiebreaker

          2. 1.1.6.2.2.Forfeits - avoid this if at all possible.

          3. 1.1.6.2.3.Points scored - total points scored added.

          4. 1.1.6.2.4.Total points allowed - total points allowed added.


  1. Equipment

    1. Includes uniform, basketballs, and gym bags.

      1. 2.1.1.Uniforms: each registered and fully paid player will receive a league uniform that includes matching shorts and jersey for their team.

      2. 2.1.2.All players will be responsible to wash and dry their uniforms and bring them to game night.

      3. 2.1.3.If a player does not have their league assigned jersey at game time, they will not be allowed to play.

      4. 2.1.4.If a player doesn’t not have their league assigned shorts they will be issued a technical. Any player can purchase shorts if they need additional. Failure to wear the league shorts after the first offense will trigger a $25 fine. This fine will need to be paid before their next game.

      5. 2.1.5.Basketballs: All teams are expected to bring their own basketballs for “shoot arounds”. The league is only responsible for providing (2) game basketballs. (1) official game ball and (1) serving as a back-up.

      6. 2.1.6.Gym bags: All gym bags must be placed against the wall directly behind the team’s bench/chairs and are no longer permitted on the bench/chairs or next to them. This will help quicken team transitions between games, improve sideline safety and make the games more presentable.

      7. 2.1.7.Shoes: All players must play in appropriate gym shoes that are carried into the gym, not worn on feet. This helps prevent hazardous conditions on the floor.


  1. Rosters and Players

    1. All teams must submit a completed team roster on the league website before the start of the first game. 

      1. 3.1.1.Rosters: must have a minimum of (8) players and a maximum of (10) players. Players may be added or removed from your team before 10pm Sunday (week 3). Changes must be finalized and submitted by above deadline via league Facebook page, Facebook messenger or in person (paper). 

        1. 3.1.1.1.If a team has unforeseen issues that bring their team roster size to an unreasonable amount (5-6) players, they will be allowed to add players to their roster to become competitive. This may also cover clerical errors or oversight by league admin.

        2. 3.1.1.2.All emergency player signings will need to be reviewed and approved by the League Commissioner.  

          1. 3.1.1.2.1.Ex: COVID-19, season ending injuries, admin error, etc.

      2. 3.1.2.Players: All players must be at least 18 years of age (league commissioner will have discretionary decision making for this rule)

        1. 3.1.2.1.Every player will need to sign liability waivers before playing. This only occurs once.

        2. 3.1.2.2.This league is a men’s basketball league, but select females will be allowed to play under the following criteria:

          1. 3.1.2.2.1.⅔ majority vote by front office staff. 

          2. 3.1.2.2.2.Former/current collegiate and/or professional players.

          3. 3.1.2.2.3.Candidates must be recruited by a current and fully paid team. 

      3. 3.1.3.“The Big Pat Rule”:  All players will have to be registered, paid in full and have played in at least half of the regular season games of the current season to be eligible for the playoffs. 

        1. 3.1.3.1.The player in question is responsible for showing proof of all (3) requirements if asked to do so.

          1. 3.1.3.1.1.This will eliminate playoff "stacking" or potential abuse of the emergency signing clause. This isn't designed to be punitive, the goal is to have transparency and fair play.


      1. 3.1.4.First Responders Clause: law enforcement officers, paramedics, EMT's (emergency medical technicians) and firefighters.

        1. 3.1.4.1.All registered and paid in full players ($100) who are First Responders will need to meet the following criteria to be eligible for the playoffs.

        2. 3.1.4.2.Players have to play a minimum of (2) regular season games.

        3. 3.1.4.3.Actively on a team roster for (4) games minimum.

        4. 3.1.4.4.Any games not played because of duty, will be refunded to the eligible First Responder at the end of the season.

        5. 3.1.4.5.All First Responders looking to benefit from this clause will need to present their current employment ID for confirmation.


  1. Coach/Captain Roles

    1. Each team will have to recognize a Coach or Captain. This will need to be submitted with the team rosters aforementioned in section (4.1.)

      1. 4.1.1.Roles: The Coach/Captain shall be responsible for all interactions with the officials and front office. 

      2. 4.1.2.Coaches and Captains may discuss interpretations, but will not discuss judgment calls made by officials or front office staff. Coaches and  Captains in violation of this will be assessed a technical foul.

      3. 4.1.3.Coaches and Captains are responsible for ensuring that their players and spectators behave in an appropriate manner. If not, a technical foul will be assessed to the Coach or Captain.

        1. 4.1.3.1.If a spectator is asked to leave a game for misconduct, they will be banned from the facility for the remainder of the season. 

        2. 4.1.3.2.Players and fans are permitted to express emotions both positive and negative in real time, but will not be allowed to engage officials in such a way to create intimidation, ridicule or disrespect. Any excessive violations will result in the player(s) involved to be assessed a technical foul. 


  1. Game Time

    1. Games will begin promptly at the scheduled start time.

      1. 5.1.1.If a team does not have (5) players at ten minutes past their scheduled game time they will forfeit the game.

        1. 5.1.1.1.We don’t allow games to be played with less than 5 players on each team.

      2. 5.1.2.All present players must check in with score stable before the start of the game. Failure to do so will lead to a technical foul for each violation. 

      3. 5.1.3.Warm-ups: Each team will have a maximum of (5) minutes to warm-up before the start of the game.. 

      4. 5.1.4.Game Duration: Games will consist of (2) 20 minute halves. 

        1. 5.1.4.1.The clock will be running except when:

          1. 5.1.4.1.1.The final (2) minutes of each half (except if a team is ahead by 20 points or more).

          2. 5.1.4.1.2.An injury occurs that requires a stoppage of the game longer than a normal stoppage (official’s discretion).

          3. 5.1.4.1.3.A time out is called

          4. 5.1.4.1.4.Score stable needs to verify score or fouls

      5. 5.1.5.Half-time: Will last (3) minutes and will begin as soon as the 1st half buzzer sounds. 

      6. 5.1.6.Overtime: If teams are tied at the end of regulation, a (2) minute overtime will be played. Overtime will begin with a jump-ball at center court. In overtime, the clock stops at the last minute.

        1. 5.1.6.1.If teams are tied at the end of the first overtime, they shall play (1) minute overtimes until a winner is decided. Overtime(s) after the first will have a running clock.

      7. 5.1.7.The ball-handler must clear half-court within 10 seconds.


  1. Official Score and Scorekeeper/Statistician

    1. Coaches/Captains are responsible for having their player’s correct information in the scorebook before the start of the game.

      1. 6.1.1.Players arriving late to a game may be added to the scorebook without penalty.

      2. 6.1.2.Players may not enter the game until they are entered into the scorebook.

      3. 6.1.3.Teams are encouraged to closely monitor the scoreboard and keep their own scorebook.

        1. 6.1.3.1.Team captains are allowed to request an audit of the score at any dead ball as long as the request is reasonable and is not obstructing the flow of the game.

      4. 6.1.4.Statisticians will keep individual player stats with support from the scorekeeper.

        1. 6.1.4.1.Player and Team stats will be uploaded to the League Facebook page and/or League Website by Wednesday evening.

    2. Protests: No protesting individual stats that do not have a game changing impact on the outcome of the game. Ex: “hey I had 3 rebounds not 2!”. All other disputes will be settled on the spot by referees and the League Commissioner with the assistance of the official Scorekeeper. 


  1. Referees

    1. The Referees of the “Basketball Junkies” League are interviewed and hired by the front office staff and are hence employee’s. They are expected to be professional at all times, treat players in a respectful manner and uphold all the rules in policies that are written in this manual.

      1. 7.1.1.Each game will feature (2) referees.

      2. 7.1.2.In the event a game only has (1) referee, both teams will need to agree to start with only one ref and the game will be treated as an official game. If no agreement can be made, the game will be rescheduled. 

      3. 7.1.3.In the event that no referees are present both teams may agree to proceed in the following ways:

        1. 7.1.3.1.Request a volunteer to officiate the game. This person(s) will be paid the referee fee. This person cannot be a player from either team or a player from another team in our league.

        2. 7.1.3.2.Play a self-officiated game, referee fees will go towards food and refreshments for the teams the following week.

          1. 7.1.3.2.1.Once a game has started, it cannot be stopped or restarted. The game will be official. 

        3. 7.1.3.3.Declare the game a no-contest. This isn’t a tie, it’s as if the game never happened. In this event, both teams will need to meet with the League Commissioner to reschedule the game as early as possible. 


  1. Timeouts

    1. Each team is allowed (2) total timeout each half. These timeouts will not reset in overtime(s).

      1. 8.1.1.In overtime, each time is allowed (1) timeout.

      2. 8.1.2.Each timeout is (1) minute.

      3. 8.1.3.A timeout can advance the ball only if the team indicates their intention to do so to the head ref.

        1. 8.1.3.1.This can occur in live play, after a made basketball, and when lined-up for free-throws.

      4. 8.1.4.Only players on the court can call a timeout.

        1. 8.1.4.1.If a team has a designated coach, he or she can call a timeout from the bench.


  1. Fouls

    1. Every team must play with (5) players on the court the entire game. Only (5) fouls are allowed before a player has fouled out. If a player receives his (5th) personal foul and the team only has (5) players present that player will not leave the game due to “fouling out”. A double bonus team foul will be assessed each time the “fouled out” player commits a personal foul for the rest of the game.

      1. 9.1.1.Clear path fouls (no defender back and a foul occurring behind the ball) will result in a 2-shot technical and possession for the shooting team.


  1. Free-throws

    1. 10.1.Non-shooters (lane and outside the 3-point line) may enter the lane once the ball leaves the shooter's hands (on the release).

    2. 10.2.The shooter must attempt the free-throw and wait for the ball to hit the rim.

    3. 10.3.If the shooter is injured, he must attempt all awarded free-throws before leaving the game. If he leaves the game before shooting he will not be allowed to re-enter the game.


  1. Technical Fouls

    1. 11.1.Misconduct technical fouls are (2) shot fouls plus the ball at mid-court.

    2. 11.2.If a player does not have their uniform and checks into the game, they will be issued a technical foul. 

      1. 11.2.1.A technical foul for uniforms is a (1) shot foul.

      2. 11.2.2.If the uniform technical foul is before the tip-off, the free-throw is attempted before the tip.

      3. 11.2.3.If the uniform technical foul is after the tip-off the free-throw is attempted and the ball is given to the team with the active possession at mid-court.

      4. 11.2.4.If a technical foul is assessed to the bench (not including coach/captain) there will be (3) shot fouls plus the ball at mid-court.

      5. 11.2.5.Any player who receives (2) technical fouls in (1) game will be ejected from the game and asked to leave the facility.

      6. 11.2.6.Any verbal aggression that could be associated with an act of violence will result in all persons involved being assessed a technical foul, immediately ejected from the game and asked to leave the facility.

      7. 11.2.7.Bench players must sit on chairs/bleachers or stand behind them. Failure to do so will result in a warning before a technical foul is issued.

      8. 11.2.8.ANY PLAYER WITH (5) TOTAL TECHNICAL FOULS WILL HAVE TO MEET WITH LEAGUE COMMISSIONER AND COULD BE SUSPENDED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON.

      9. 11.2.9.Technical fouls that are physical in nature will force all those involved to leave the game for 5 mins of actual game time or a change in half. 

        1. 11.2.9.1.Suspended players will not be refunded. 

        2. 11.2.9.2.Any team caught playing or attempting to play with a player not on the official roster or a suspended player will be suspended from the league for the remainder of the season without a refund


  1. Fighting

    1. 12.1.Overly aggressive physical contact (non-basketball play), physical assault, or verbal threat to do physical harm or egregious verbal disrespect is an automatic suspension from the league. These individuals will be asked to leave and the local police will be called promptly. 

      1. 12.1.1.Any form of physical fighting (not including light shoving) will result in all persons involved being banned for life from all “Basketball Junkies, LLC”  events.”

        1. 12.1.1.1.This includes: players, officials, staff, coaches and spectators.


  1. Forfeits

    1. 13.1.Forfeits are damaging to the integrity of the league and creates a financial loss each time it happens. This must be avoided whenever possible. Our league does not care how other leagues manage forfeits, we have our own policy and it will be enforced without bias and recommendations from persons outside of front office staff. 

      1. 13.1.1.If a team is unable to make their scheduled game(s), the Coach/Captain is responsible for contacting the front office via Facebook. Failure to do so will automatically give the team in question a forfeited loss.

        1. 13.1.1.1.If appropriate notice is given, the League Commissioner may schedule a make-up game with no penalty to the  requesting team.

        2. 13.1.1.2.Forfeits will have a HEAVY negative impact on a team looking to settle a tie-breaker or gain a playoff spot. 

        3. 13.1.1.3.Any team that forfeits will be fined $100 for each forfeited game. 50% of the fine will go to a local charity voted on by the opposing team.


  1. Playoffs & Championship

    1. 14.1.The playoffs will always be represented by the best teams in the league; the playoff bracket will vary depending on the amount of teams in the league. 

      1. 14.1.1.Ex: (14) team league will have (8) playoff spots whereas a (10) team league would have (6) playoff spots. 

    2. 14.2.The championship game will conclude our season.

      1. 14.2.1.All playoff rounds to include the championship round will be played all in one day.

        1. 14.2.1.1.This may change, the facility manager and league commissioner are looking into extending lease terms to accommodate a 2nd week of playoffs. 

      2. 14.2.2.League Champions will receive championship rings and championship t-shirts.

        1. 14.2.2.1.The championship rings will be presented on the opening night of the following season of the game.


  1. Player Awards


    1. 15.1.Player of the Week: Nominees will be voted on by our Facebook league members. Players of the week nominees will be posted NLT Monday every week. The winner will be announced NLT Friday.

    2. 15.2.Defensive Player of the Week: Nominees will be voted on by our Facebook league members. Players of the week nominees will be posted NLT Monday every week. The winner will be announced NLT Friday.

    3. 15.3.Rookie of the Week: Nominees will be voted on by our Facebook league members. Players of the week nominees will be posted NLT Monday every week. The winner will be announced NLT Friday.

    4. 15.4.League MVP: Will be voted on by front office staff and referees. The announcement will be made NLT Friday before the postseason.

    5. 15.5.League Defensive Player Award: Will be voted on by front office staff. The announcement will be made NLT Friday before the postseason.

    6. 15.6.Top Rookie Award: Will be voted on by front office staff and referees. The announcement will be made NLT Friday before the postseason.

    7. 15.7.Most Improved: Will be voted on by front office staff and referees. The announcement will be made NLT Friday before the postseason.

    8. 15.8.6th Man: Will be voted on by front office staff and referees. The announcement will be made NLT Friday before the postseason.

    9. 15.9.All-First/Second Team: Will be voted on by front office staff. All team performers list will be posted every week NLT Wednesday evening starting after week 5.

    10. 15.10.All-First/Second Defensive Team: Will be voted on by front office staff. All team performers list will be posted every week NLT Wednesday evening starting after week 5.

    11. 15.11.All-First Rookie Team: Will be voted on by front office staff. All team performers list will be posted every week NLT Wednesday evening starting after week 5.


  1. Guests

    1. 16.1.All guests are expected to show good sportsmanship while attending the games. Failure to do so can lead to violators being escorted from the property without refund. 

    2. 16.2.Regular season game admission are $5 per guest 8 years or older.

    3. 16.3.Playoff game admissions are $8 per guests 8 years or older.

    4. 16.4.Championship game admission depends on the venue.
